Emergency Call Station Saves a Life

ETP-400

Stories like these are why we love doing what we do, see below a story from Seattle about a college student who was stabbed in an attempted robber and was able to get help from an Emergency Call Station.  If you aren’t familiar with the name you have probably seen these boxes around parking lots, airports and some schools.  These boxes have a blue emergency light visible and look like a metal box with a speaker and an emergency button.  Enabled with two way communication and some with cameras these boxes with a hands free single motion contact emergency personnel for a quick response.

If you would like more information on one of these units, please contact us.  We would love to share this information and help you increase safety and security at your campus.

A Seattle University student was stabbed in the chest early Wednesday morning on the school’s campus during a robbery attempt. The victim was sent to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Three suspects have been arrested for assault and robbery.

Seattle Police said the victim, a 23-year-old male, noticed that he was being followed at around 1 a.m. The suspects — a 15-year-old boy, a 23-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl –  approached him from behind, punched him to the ground and began going through his pockets. The victim saw one suspect pull out a knife.

When the suspects fled, the victim used a campus emergency kiosk to call Seattle University Security officers, who arrived promptly and called 911.

The victim did not realize he had been stabbed until he was being treated by the Seattle Fire Department.

Seattle Police found the suspects hiding a few blocks away and arrested all three after the victim positively identified them.

Seattle U says an officer was quick to respond – because he was on a Segway.

The two younger suspects were booked into the Youth Services Center, and the 23-year-old suspect was sent to the King County Jail to be investigated for robbery.
